The Vision Behind Just Good Sense
Just Good Sense was born from a simple but powerful idea: healing environments should make sense — for the body, the brain, and the heart. With decades of leadership in occupational therapy, trauma-informed care, and systems transformation, I founded Just Good Sense to bring practical, compassionate solutions into clinical, educational, and caregiving spaces. From national trainings to local consultations, our work is grounded in a belief that safety, dignity, and recovery are not just goals — they are rights.

Nigel the Weighted Polar Bear isn’t just a cuddly companion — he’s a therapeutic tool, a storyteller, and a sensory support. Created through years of clinical experience and insight, Nigel was designed to help children (and their caregivers) navigate big feelings with confidence and calm. Alongside The Nigel Story and Nigel’s Nose Knows the Senses, he invites families, therapists, and educators into a world where self-regulation feels possible, playful, and deeply personal.

Spreading Just Good Sense
What started as one idea — one bear — has grown into a movement. Just Good Sense now reaches across hospitals, schools, residential programs, and family homes through trainings, books, tools, and direct consultation. Our mission is clear: make sensory-informed, trauma-sensitive care the standard, not the exception. Whether we’re presenting at national conferences or helping a single child feel safe in their own body, we believe in practical change powered by empathy, evidence, and just good sense.
